Helen Ann (Papadakis) Witkowski

Helen Ann Witkowski, 98, of Valley City passed on to her heavenly home, Sunday, October 13, 2019.

Helen was born on August 8, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John and Mary (nee Trakis) Papadakis. She has resided in her farmhouse since 1941.  Helen was a hardworking lady all her life. Helen could be found working on the farm, maintaining her home, property and tending to her flower gardens.

She has been an active and faithful member of St. Martin of Tours Church, the Knitting Club and the Valley City Garden Club. Helen enjoyed knitting, quilting and sewing.  She made many shawls, scarves, blankets and dolls for various Veteran Organizations, Senior Citizen Groups and Maternity wards for local hospitals.

Helen was very active in her community, and treasured gathering with her neighborhood Lunch Bunch, Flower Club Ladies and welcomed family and friends in her home with a cup of hot tea and homemade bakery.

Helen is survived by her children: Michael (Aqua Neura) Witkowski, and Helen (John) Roos. Grandchildren: Kristina (Greg) Miller, Tim Witkowski, Teresa (Christopher) Megyes, Bryan (Monica) Roos and Denise (Art) Hulsman. Great grandchildren: Seres, Reinier, Anna, Sophia, Preston, Colton and Niko

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years Mickey Witkowski, and daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Witkowski.

The viewing will be Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Gathering area of St. Martin of Tours, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, Ohio. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks memorials may be made to St. Martin of Tours Building Fund, St. Jude Children Foundation or Hospice of Medina County.
