Gerald J. Lenhart

Gerald J. Lenhart, "Jerry" passed away peacefully at the age of 76. Husband of Mary Sue (Hanusosky) Lenhart; beloved father of Kevin and Matthew; brother to John Lenhart and Mary Jo (John) Perrette and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Emily and John Lenhart. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1961 and received his Bachelors and Masters from John Carroll University in 1965, 1967. Jerry retired from NASA Glenn after 33 years of dedicated service as a mathematician and computer programmer. His interests were making stained glass art pieces, backpacking, canoeing, hiking with family and friends, and extensive traveling. He particularly enjoyed repairing small engines and lawn and garden equipment for friends and neighbors. He was a true minimalist of material things, but very generous when it came to helping other people. He was a very humble, loving caring man. Jerry and Mary Sue were two days shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary. Friends may call at Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2019, at St. Martin of Tours 1800 Station Road Valley City, with viewing one hour prior to Mass in the gathering area. Burial- St. Martin Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers- contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to WVIZ-PBS or WCLV Public Radio.
