Donald L. Muntz,Sr.

Donald L. Muntz, Sr. 92, of York Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Don was born on December 10, 1926 in Valley City to the late Charles and Ruth (nee Stoskopf) Muntz. He was a lifelong resident of Medina County. Don served in the U.S. Army Air Force from October 1945- December 1946. Don had been the operation manager for Free Oil, Medina for 37 ½ years. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Valley City. Don served as York Township Trustee for 16 years, was a member of the York Zoning Board, a volunteer fireman with Erhart Fire Department for 20 years, an EMT with the Rescue Squad for 8 years. Don was a Golden Eagle of the Medina Aerie, having been a member since 1974. Don worked the family farm ground and later helped his friends with their crops. He enjoyed planting his garden up until last year. In the later years, he enjoyed listening to the Irish duo John and Alec, The New Barleycorn at Sulley's Irish Pub in Medina. Don was the loving father of Kathleen (Johnny) Fussell, Cynthia (Kevin) McCray, Jacquelyn (Kenneth) Neumeyer, Donna (Michael) Devine, Donald Muntz, Jr., Jean (Jeffrey) Kocian, David Muntz, Bette (Greg) Curtin, Dolly (Michael) Gingo, Stephanie (Michael) Melillo and Brenda (Richard) Lawless. Cherished grandfather and great- grandfather. Survived by brother- Robert Muntz and sisters, Dorothy Earl and Marilyn Bohl. Numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice (nee Mellert) in 2004, brothers- Raymond, Glenn and infant brother William and sisters- Florence King, Marlene Bramley, Betty Walhers, Violet Albright. Visitation Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 12 Noon to 6:00 pm in the Gathering area of Zion Lutheran Church, 2233 Abbeyville Road, Valley City with the Funeral Service 10:00 am Friday, July 19, 2019 in the church. Pastor Jim Watson, officiating. Burial will be held at York Township Cemetery, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers- Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Choir. The Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City has the honor of serving the Muntz family.
