David E. Kunkel

David E. Kunkel. 57, of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2019. David was born Nov. 9, 1961 in Medina, Ohio to Frances (nee Foecking) and the late Edward Kunkel. He had resided in Medina County for many years prior to moving to Summit County. He attended Medina High School and Medina County Career Center. David had worked for the former Crestview Nursing Home, and Gowe Printing, both in Medina prior working at Dave's Discount Store and Donut Connections both in Akron. David was an amateur inventor, enjoyed working with electronics, experimenting with building items and radio control operated helicopters. He loved playing the guitar. In spite of his mental illness, David made the very most of his talented gifts of knowledge. He will always be remembered for his off-beat sense of humor. He is survived by his daughter- Melisa (Roger) Channell, grandchildren Tristin, Tommy and Juanita. His mother- Frances Luana Elliott, Brothers- Gary (Cindi) Kunkel, Alan (Lori) Kunkel, Kevin (Nora) Kunkel, Joe (Wendy) Kunkel. Also survived by eleven nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by a brother- Dennis Kunkel, maternal grandparents- Colette and Francis Foecking, paternal grandfather- Edward E. Kunkel and a niece Amy Kunkel. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City, Ohio, with a time of sharing at 7:00 PM. At David's request, cremation has taken place.
