Bruce Alan Brakeman, 67, of Medina, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018. Bruce was born in Cleveland, OH on November 16, 1950 to the late Irving and Norma (Lytle) Brakeman. He was raised in Parma Heights and lived in Medina County for 42 years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Case Western Reserve in 1972 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a NCAA Division one qualifier in fencing Bruce was owner and president of Brakeman Insurance Agency in Parma for 45 years. He was an avid golfer, a dedicated bird watcher and hiker, and also an amateur photographer. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Nancy Weitendorf; a daughter, Rachel (Kevin) Freeman, brother, Brian Brakeman and sister, Audrey Mitchell. Per Bruce's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00-4:00 PM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH. The family suggests memorials if desired may be made to the National Audubon Society or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
