Carol (Bernard) Schaefer, 90, of Toledo, OH went to her heavenly home on Friday, June 12, 2009.
Carol was born to Albert and Irene Bernard in Cleveland, on December 19, 1918. She lived in Parma, Ohio moved to Valley City, Ohio where she married Earl Schaefer on October 8, 1938. In 1946, they moved to Raber, Michigan where they built Rustic Cabins and Campground on Raber Bay, which they operated for 38 years. Her final years were spent in Temperance, Michigan. For 21 years, Carol and her late husband enjoyed their winters in Florida. Carol was an active member for 45 years at St. Stanislaus Church in Goetzville, MI, where she sang in the choir, taught religious classed, and was a member of Altar Society. She was an honorary member of the Raber Am vets. Her hobbies were baking, sewing and most of all fishing.
She is survived by her children- Patricia (John) Carlin, Sarasota, FL, Richard (Marilyn) Schaefer, of Hudson, IN, Thomas (Linda) Schaefer of Catawba Island, OH and Jack (Cortney) Schaefer, of Blissfield, MI 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. 2 Sisters- Betty O’Dea, of North Olmsted, OH and Nancy (Bill) Hauck, of Medina, OH.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, 1991, a grandson, James Carlin and a sister, Marian Hauck, 2008.
Funeral Mass- Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours 1800 Station Road Valley City, OH. Calling hours- Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH.’
Burial- St. Martin Cemetery, Valley City, OH.
