Laurence J. Carroll, age 84, of Valley City, OH went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.
He was born on January 8, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Eugene and Edna Carroll. Laurence was raised in Cleveland and had lived in Columbia Station, Olmsted Falls and Lakewood before moving to Valley City in 1986. He was a retired plumber and had worked for the Wiemels Plumbing Co. for many years. Laurence was a member of the Plumber’s Local 55 in Cleveland, where he was awarded The George Meany Award for outstanding service to youth. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Chippewa District Great Trail Council, where he had served as Unit Commissioner for many years. Laurence enjoyed helping his late wife Mary Anne with the former Mac’s Dollhouserie business in Valley City. They frequently attended craft shows and flea markets together.
Survived by his children- Marjorie Ann Zagata, of Cleveland, OH; Mary Maureen (Javier) Reyes, of OK; Michael Laurence, of Ashland, OH; Eugene Patrick, of Wooster, OH and Timothy James, of MN. 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Mary Anne, 11/10/08; daughter-in-law: Mary L. Carroll, 10/26/09; granddaughter- Victoria; great grandson- Ronald and a brother- Eugene Carroll.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours 1800 Station Road Valley City, OH Rev. Charles Ryba, officiating.
Burial- Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, OH
Calling hours- Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH
