Edith L. Smith

June 14, 1912 - July 4, 2009

Edith L. Smith, age 97, of Medina, Ohio went to her heavenly home on Independence Day, July 4, 2009.

She was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1912 in Hardin, Kentucky to Nicholas and Izora Darnell. Edith had lived in Cleveland prior to moving to Medina County in 1950. She had worked at the former Dutch Pantry, in Medina for several years and lastly 1991 as a private caregiver to many folks. Edith loved to sew, quilt and crochet. Her loved of gardening continued to this spring of planting flowers and tomatoes.

Survived by her children- Jane Whitlam, of Naples, FL; Mickey (Jacqueline) Smith, of Salem, OH and Joanie (Don) Wahl, of Orange Park, FL Daughter-in-law: Virginia Smith of Medina, OH. 16 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Felix, 1964; sons- Leroy (wife Jean); Joe L. and Don (wife Laura). Son-in-law: JC Whitlam; 12 brothers and sisters

Funeral service: Monday, 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer Funeral Home 2089 Columbia Road Valley City, OH Rev. Richard Folger, nephew, officiating.

Calling hours- Monday 4:00-7:30 PM at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be at a later date - Chatham Cemetery, Chatham, OH
